Here to Stay doesn’t have any deep hidden meaning. Darius Mullin and DvnielPotts just wanted to remind people that they’re not going anywhere anytime soon while giving them a banger while they were at it.

Darius Mullin proves on his new EP that you can pack a lot of content into seven minutes and twelve seconds.

As the title makes it obvious, the project consists of three songs and this is why you should listen to each one…

Mullin brings passion from the start, marking his claim that he is “about to get real” and “tell you how I feel”.

If you know Mullin, then you know he is a student of CHH. Or in his words…a superfan. Even though he is young, he has done his homework on the history of the genre. This comes out in the sound he has crafted as I can hear influences of the early 2000’s such as DS5 in his vocal and delivery.

Above it all, Mullin loves Jesus and, as much as he loves CHH, the culture does not outshine his love for his savior.

Interstellar Church 2
The synths drive this quick sub-2 minute track.

Here we have a Beautiful Eulogy-esque offering and, if I’m being honest, it may be my favorite of the three short songs.

“The heavens declare the glory of God a sight that is stirring my heart/ so many stars and planets and Mars and You know every part”

“If the universe is a story then He is the star/ greater than the galaxies, oh how great Thou art”

The track is an amazing, awe-inspired ode to I Am. The one who is, was, and always been. It is the voice of the true heart of CHH.

To Trust in Jesus ft. Frank Aragon
This piano-heavy song stands in a bit of contrast from its predecessors. That is not a negative however and it is a fitting finale.

The vocals start off a bit shaky, but as Mullin drops his bars the confidence is there in abundance.

Again, he taps into worship and reverence before stepping aside to feature Frank Aragon.

Aragon delivers a beautiful rendition of “It Is Well With My Soul” followed by the instrumental “Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus”. It brings you to a place of communion with your Creator, to be reminded how we should “take Him at His word” even in difficult times. For me, I was quickly transported to a small, rural church where I heard these hymns shared on a weekly basis growing up.

Mullin did an amazing job with this project and I am excited to see where his music goes from this point.

As he pointed out, perhaps he is not the best artist in the space, but he is a true worshipper and I think we can use every one of those that we can get.
