Review | Thomas Iannuci, “Soldiers”

By Eric N. Boston @EricBoston3 | April 24, 2019

Thomas Iannucci and THE BREWZ intent was to create a sports anthem for Hawaii…man are we lucky that Spotify can cross oceans!
FiveTwenty was able to get early access to the new single “Soldiers” that features Mike Izon and the Camarillo Brothers. The one thing I can tell you, this is not a song you want to sleep on.

I know, I know. I am a big Iannucci supporter – guilty as charged. My bro puts out quality music with the purpose of consistently pushing himself to be better. On top of that, he is one of the most kind-hearted people we have so it makes it easy to be a fan. Even so, do not let my bias cause you to pause on this one. This is the “please be willing to sound different” offering that we claim to always be looking for.

The production from THE BREWZ is in your face right from the start.

The drums hit you hard in a way that lets you know, “oh, you’re not sitting down for this one!”

“We really wanted to capture that feeling, the excitement of being in a stadium and the energy that only a live game can evoke – and I think we succeeded.”

It is hard to argue with that.

With the drumline in place, Iannucci enters as the grand marshall of an elaborate halftime showcase. “It’s hard for me to say/ but I think I’m going to have to lead the way” and from there the listener has no choice but to follow.

Iannucci has kept Hawaii a tad reserved in his music to this point in his career. No more though. As he says “I’m putting on for my state and it feels great”.

“Soldiers” is the lead single from the, yet to be named, new album that is a joint effort with THE BREWZ.

“It’s the perfect first single for our new album. The fact that this is one of my first songs to really represent for Hawaii is just icing on the cake.”

Izon delivers a chorus that matches perfectly with the overall feel and theme of the track. Powerful vocals keep the energy flowing that the production and Iannucci put in place. It is hard to not get up as Izon croons “We’re an army coming!” You can hear a stadium full of people joining in as their team marches down the field with victory in mind.

Coming in at 2:10, “Soldiers” is not a track that you vibe out to. It is, however, the perfect track to blast as you look get pumped for your day or a special event. It is incredibly easy to hear this song blasting through P.A. systems in arenas across the country.

If you are not excited about the upcoming release from Iannucci and THE BREWZ after hearing this track, perhaps music is simply not your thing. As for me…I’m getting antsy.
