CHH powerhouse Steven Malcolm returns with a hard-hitting music video.
On Point is the newest release from the Michigan rapper and features vet KB. The award-winning rhyme slinger takes it to a new level with his latest effort.
The video follows Malcolm’s impressive EP ‘All Is True’ which was met with praise by several publications. He was even compared to the likes of J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Nipsey hustle for his ability to share truth via storytelling in the age of conscious rap. From an EP focused on truth, Malcolm switches up with On Point to highlight tenacity.
“On Point is all about being shard and withstanding the test of time,” says Malcolm. “Defying the odds is never easy, but a sharp mind can overcome any obstacle.”
The song is laid over trap beats, a cyclical piano hook, and shoutouts to iconic quarterback Tom Brady.
“The greatest QB and my favorite football player being Tom Brady, I couldn’t help but use the best as the metaphor,” explained Malcolm.
Given the multiple mentions of Brady, it’s no coincidence that it sometimes feels like the hip hop equivalent of an athlete’s comments during a pre-game interveiw. On Point finds Malcolm rapping about his day-to-day work ethic along with his God-given talent. He splits the song’s verses with KB along the way. They are limber, laced up, and ready to take the field!
“This record is all about high energy and motivation for anyone who is looking to be focused!”
Described by Dirty-Glove as “Michigan’s best kept secret”, Malcolm’s power-hinged anthem is a certified banger.
