“Steven Malcolm is here to change the stigma of Christian Hip-Hop for the better.” – All Hip-Hop

Steven Malcolm is back with a monstrous new track featuring LZ7

Monster is produced by Jimmy James and Dayme. The song highlights Steven’s battle with inner demons.

After releasing his landmark album ‘Tree‘ in 2022, the 5-time GMA Dove Award nominee continues to position himself as a leading voice in faith-based hip-hop music. Now, over rapid 808s and synthesizing bass lines, Malcolm depicts the disruptive forces aiming for his flesh. His swift flows are delivered in a melodic riddim that nods to his Jamaican roots. The powerful lyricism fortifies LZ7’s poignant hook, “There’s a monster living underneath/If I said there wasn’t I’d be lying through my teeth/So will I finally find me and find the real me/Will I finally find me and set the monster free.”

“I’ve always loved the drill sound,” says Steven. “The link up with LZ7 was perfect because it brought the sound of the UK and the heart of Jesus all in one room. I wanted to go beyond the surface and talk about something we all struggle with. The inner evil desires.”

This is Malcolm’s first collaboration with the rap-dance outfit hailing from the UK.

LZ7’s frontman Lindz West’s hypnotic vocals amplify Malcolm’s suave, tactful rhymes. The solemn theme reinforces Malcolm’s ambition to be transparent and relatable to his listeners. “Don’t try n lie to me/What be inside be haunting and wicked/Daily I pry/Peel back the layers/It took me a minute/Faithful I battle/Sword on my side I”M READY TO DRILL IT!”

Monster sets the tone for Steve Malcolm’s forthcoming album

The song serves as a rallying cry for those feeling conflicted.

It’s a story of faith and triumph as listeners hear Malcolm slay his demons. Over the weekend, the Michigan-bred hip-hop artist shared his impassioned bops with more than 30,000 music fans. Steven performed at the UK’s “Big Church Festival 2023”. The long-running music festival is known for showcasing the best Christian artists in the world.
